An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial harnesses the power of light technology to improve the appearance of sun-damaged and aged skin. Intense Pulsed Light is emitted through a handheld device to the areas being treated for improvement. Discoloration on the face such as brown spot, rosacea, and vascular and benign discolorations such as facial spider veins and port wine stains can all be diminished to give the face a more evenly toned appearance.  Before an IPL treatment, the technician will cleanse the areas to be treated of any makeup, dirt, and oil to prepare the skin. You will be given an eye mask to protect your eyes from the pulsing light. The technician will press the IPL hand piece to the treated area where it will heat the collagen below the skin’s surface. By stimulating the skin’s collagen production in the treated areas, blemishes begin to disappear and lines and wrinkles are filled in. Most patients feel mild to no discomfort during their treatment and will need no recovery time.
